Assessment Mode

Enhance your classroom's routine with Assessment Mode.

Who can use this?

👤 Assessment Mode is available for Teachers.

👤 Requires a Kami paid plan.

What is Assessment Mode?

Assessment Mode allows teachers to create new assignments in Kami as assessments. With this mode, teachers gain more control over the work they assign to students— useful for summative assessments or similar activities!

In Assessment Mode, you can:

  • Enable the Due Date feature with a countdown timer.

  • Change your assignments' due date and time.

  • Automatically receive all students' work once the time is up.

  • Access all student files upon submission.

  • Return graded work to students using Kami's built-in Return and Return all buttons.

How does this work on the student's side?

For students, working on an assignment in Assessment Mode will look the same as any other assignment; they can manually submit their work in Kami using the Submit button in the top Navigation bar.

However, if a due date was set and has passed before the student can submit, Kami will automatically submit their work on their behalf and notify the student.

After submitting, students will lose access to view or edit their work and will be redirected to the Kami Dashboard if they attempt to open the assignment. They'll regain access only after the teacher returns the assignment, but will not be able to resubmit the same assignment.

📝 Assessment Mode is currently available for Google Classroom Add-on, and the Canvas and Schoology external tools.

Real-time Monitoring with Assessment Mode

We suggest enabling Real-time Monitoring and Assessment Mode when using Kami with Canvas or Schoology, which allows teachers to view student work in real-time and leave helpful feedback. Note: This feature is enabled by default in Schoology.
